At New To You Redo, we understand that purchasing furniture or hiring us to refinish your pieces is an investment. To help you maintain your furniture’s beauty and longevity, we’ve compiled these care tips:
1. Curing Period:
Furniture takes approximately 30 days to fully cure. During this time, avoid cleaning with damp cloths. Instead, use a dry microfiber cloth for dusting.
2. Cleaning Guidelines:
After the curing period, clean your furniture with soap and water only. Avoid harsh chemicals like furniture polish and disinfectants, as they can degrade the clearcoat, causing a dull appearance over time.
3. Avoid Oil-Based Products:
Our furniture is finished with water-based products. Be cautious with oil-based products such as waxes, lotions, essential oils, and certain makeup items. Spills left uncleaned can lead to paint peeling or melting.
4. Protection Against Wear:
For areas prone to heavy use or cleaning, consider using a glass top or runner to protect the surface. Use coasters under drinks and vases to prevent moisture damage.
5. Stained Surfaces:
If your furniture has a stained surface, avoid excessive cleaning, which can dry out the wood. We offer touch-up paint and hemp oil for reconditioning stained tops at an additional cost.
6. Maintenance of Drawer Tracks:
Periodically recondition wood drawer tracks to ensure smooth operation. We recommend using powdered deodorant sticks to recondition tracks that become difficult to open.
7. Cabinet Doors and Floor Leveling:
If cabinet doors that operated perfectly in our store are not opening well at your home, check if your floor is level. An uneven floor can cause doors to bind and drag. Placing furniture cushions under legs or one side of the furniture can alleviate this issue.
8. Climate Control:
Do not store your furniture in non-climate-controlled areas. Solid wood furniture can swell over time with exposure to humidity.
9. Refurbishment and Repairs:
If you experience issues such as a broken drawer track guide, we provide replacements and can demonstrate the installation process for an additional fee.
10. Quality Assurance:
All our furniture is used and lovingly restored. While we do not offer refunds, we strive to address any issues within a 30-day period after purchase.
